CS2 Float Values & Wear (FN, MW, FT, WW, BS)
Every CS2 skin has a hidden float value between 0 and 1. The lower the float, the cleaner the skin looks. The float maps to one of five wear conditions.
Wear ranges
| Wear | Abbr. | Float range |
|---|---|---|
| Factory New | FN | 0.00 – 0.07 |
| Minimal Wear | MW | 0.07 – 0.15 |
| Field-Tested | FT | 0.15 – 0.38 |
| Well-Worn | WW | 0.38 – 0.45 |
| Battle-Scarred | BS | 0.45 – 1.00 |
Why float matters
- Price — Factory New copies usually cost far more than Battle-Scarred of the same skin.
- Low floats — a 0.00x "black-screen" FN can carry a big premium with collectors.
- Caps — some skins can't reach FN; their minimum float is higher, so the cleanest copy is MW.
You can inspect any item in-game to see its exact float, or check it via the Steam inspect link before buying.
